Vicksburg police called to multiple shootings over holiday weekend

Vicksburg police are investigating multiple shootings that happened over the Easter holiday weekend.Officers were called to Jacques nightclub on Levee Street around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. Police said shots were fired in the parking lot of the club. Multiple vehicles in the parking lot were hit.Police chased possible suspects as they sped away. The pursuit was called off once it reached Hinds County.Last year, the city of Vicksburg declared Jacques a public nuisance due to excessive incidents, including shootings, fights and underage drinking.Later that same day, just after 10:30 p.m., police were called to Crawford Street, where someone shot into a vehicle. Two people were inside, but there were no reports of any injuries.The gunshots were fired from a light-colored SUV or truck that was passing by.On Sunday, just after 10:30 p.m., police responded to the Whataburger on Halls Ferry Road. Witnesses said four men fired at a vehicle in the parking lot, hitting it in the bumper. Police said the intended victims said the incident stemmed from a fight at a party in Louisiana.One person was wounded in a separate shooting on Monday. Police said a 42-year-old man had been shot in the ear at a home on North Farmer Street just before 10:30 a.m. Police said the victim declined to prosecute the 77-year-old who shot him.
