A surf instructor on Tybee Island in Georgia is drawing attention to the dangers of the ocean after the death of a fellow instructor in Hawaii due to an apparent shark attack.Atsushi Yamada, better known as ‘Hot Sushi,’ is the owner of Hot Sushi’s Happy Surf Camp Aloha on Tybee Island.And he knows all too well the shark risk along Georgia’s coast.It was 2021 when Yamada was bitten by a shark, telling sister station WJCL at the time “It felt like I got hit by a baseball bat.”This week, Yamada had just finished lessons and was still talking with clients when shark fins were spotted near the shoreline by the south jetty. “As always, we are the visitors to their home,” he says as a reminder to those who venture into the ocean.
