Winter chill today, spring returns tomorrow afternoon

happy saturday everyone this morning some of Mississippi woke up to snow. Others woke up to a little bit more of a disappointment. Central Mississippi had a trace of snow and rain snow mix overnight, but nothing stuck to the ground. The ground was way too warm for anything really to accumulate off towards the northern part of the state though completely different story. Memphis getting about four inches of snow overnight, 3.5 and two below 1.5 in columbus and about an inch over towards Grenada. Now we did have a little bit of some wintry mix in the mix. Um late last night into early this morning from Vienna to Winona, Lexington, hauling down the eastern part of lee Catala counties as well as back off towards Winston County. Now again, when we called those pavement temperatures for us here in central Mississippi we were around or above freezing all overnight. So again, anything that fell to the ground did not stick our northern counties though completely different story temperatures at the ground meaning the roadway temperatures 22 in Memphis 24 tupelo Clarksdale around 28 degrees. So any of that snow that came through overnight stuck to the ground. Um and unfortunately it doesn’t really look like it’s gonna melt for the next couple of hours. So we are looking at impacts off towards the northern part of the state this morning. I see bridges and roadways. If you have any friends or family out there, tell them to hold on tight until probably the later part of the morning, early afternoon for travel. Now I will say we are expecting some of the snowpack to melt. But anything on the roads or bridges tonight will only freeze over as temperatures plummet down into the twenties overnight. Tonight this morning we were in the upper twenties, low thirties, 32 for us here in Jackson. But those real field values really taking a bite out of us, twenties and mid twenties across the region this morning. And we’re not really going to see much of a warmup today. That northerly breeze being very potent this afternoon, anywhere between around 20 to 25 almost 30 mile an hour gusts at times it will eventually subside as we head into the evening time frame, but still a very breezy day. Nonetheless, that’s going to make those real field values stick to the thirties all day today. So notice are high is only getting to around 45 this afternoon. Real field values sticking to at or just slightly above freezing, that sunshine not helping us out whatsoever. Today. Now, tonight, even colder conditions hard freeze, likely wake up weather sitting in the mid to low twenties with real field values as well. So, any outdoor pipes, if you took off the winter rise or put it back on. If you have any outdoor pets, If you don’t like this temperature for five minutes outside, your pets aren’t going to like it either bring them inside sensitive plants as well, make sure you turn your heat on drip the faucets tonight. That stereotypical winter like preparations. We had a similar case back in february and it caused some pipe issues in Jackson and we could possibly see that as well. So go ahead and take those extra precautions freeze warning in effect. Starting at six o’clock tonight. That’s going to last until 9:00 tomorrow morning, luckily this does not last very long. We go around 35 degrees for monday morning, still frost likely. Um, but then we really warm on up very nicely, much more seasonal like for the remainder of the week. Here’s your seven day forecast for you guys. We do spring forward tonight, make sure you set all clocks forward one hour before heading to bed And then as we head into the rest of the week, much more spring like conditions. Wake up weather again, 40s and 50s, high sixties and seventies were expecting to see more sunshine for a lot of those kiddos who do have spring break this week, it is looking to be overall a dryer week, Tuesday though, periods of heavy rain with an isolated thunderstorm as well as friday. Yeah,
