A kitten is safe after it got stuck on the middle of Interstate 5 in Stockton, California, and his rescue was caught on dashcam footage.Kristan Turnbeaugh said she rescued the kitten she appropriately named Rumble Strip on Thursday night just before rush hour traffic hit. Video shows Turnbeaugh pull off to the side of the freeway and back up. Turnbeaugh has a good eye because the kitten is barely in view running on the side of the freeway! Turnbeaugh jumped out of her car and grabbed him. “I was on my way to take my youngest son to his Lincoln Lightning swim meet, and I took the wrong exit. As I was coming back, I saw the kitten out of the corner of my eye and had to pull over and try,” Turnbeaugh said. And you could say rescuing freeway animals runs in her blood! Turnbeaugh’s mom, former Officer Sylvia Coelho, rescued a German Shepherd nicknamed “Freeway Frida” in 2016. Freeway Frida fell off a pickup truck and landed in the center median of Highway 99. The dog survived there for weeks before the Galt police officer found her. Coelho adopted her three months after Freeway Frida was rescued. Video: Freeway Frida adopted by officer who rescued her “You could say it’s genetic,” Turnbeaugh told sister station KCRA. Rumble Strip was checked out by Animal Friends Connection Humane Society in Lodi, California, on Friday. Turnbeaugh said he’s doing just fine, all things considered! The humane society is helping Turnbeaugh foster the kitten. “I’m really and truly grateful for their support with this baby!” Turnbeaugh said.
