Zendaya herself addressed the false claim that she is expecting her and boyfriend Tom Holland’s first child in two candid Instagram stories. She made it abundantly clear in just three sentences: She is not amused by this joke gone viral. Who would be?
“See now, this is why I stay off Twitter…” she started. “Just making stuff up for no reason…weekly. Anyway, back to filming Challengers.”
Zendaya and Holland have been quietly dating for months. News of their rekindled romantic relationship became public last summer when footage of them making out in a car came out in July 2021.
Holland addressed how they weren’t really ready to come out publicly as a couple then. They never really intended to, actually, he told GQ in November.
“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” Holland said, alluding to the video. “I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway. We sort of felt robbed of our privacy.”
“I don’t think it’s about not being ready [for our relationship to be outed],” he continued. “It’s just that we didn’t want to.”
Zendaya added in the same piece that the public intrigue in their relationship “was quite strange and weird and confusing and invasive. The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own… I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other.”
