State officials were assessing hospital needs and human services for those affected.”We have activated medical support — surging more ambulances and other emergency assets for those affected. Search and rescue is active,” Reeves said.Significant damage was also reported in Silver City, in Humphreys County.The tornado continued, tracking more than 90 miles and counting.”This is a very, very serious situation,” 16 WAPT meteorologist Christana Kay said.Hartman said the major tornado created a life-threatening situation, which could have caused catastrophic damage. He likened it to the deadly tornado that struck Yazoo City in 2010.
