Food shortages will get worse. The Mississippi River is so low that barge traffic has almost stopped. Farmers can’t move their harvested crops on barges so they are piling their crops along the river and on their farms, on the ground, under huge tarps, some even getting rained on. This is going to cause the crops to rot, spoil, get invaded by pests, etc. There will be a huge loss in the amount of usable crops. In addition, the USDA has lowered all their ending stock projections and harvest projections for wheat, corn, and soybeans….not good news.
