Former NFL offensive tackle Korey Cunningham, who played for the New England Patriots before joining the New York Giants in 2021, has died at age 28. The two teams issued statements mourning his loss on Friday morning.”The New England Patriots are saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Korey Cunningham,” the Patriots wrote. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Korey’s family, teammates and all who mourn his loss.”ESPN reported he was found dead at his home in New Jersey. The cause of his death was not disclosed. “We are saddened to hear of the passing of Korey Cunningham,” the Giants wrote on social media. “He was a vital part of the spirit and camaraderie of the locker room. Our thoughts are with Korey’s family, friends and teammates.”Cunningham, an Alabama native, was drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals out of Cincinnati. He played in 31 career games with six starts but has battled foot injuries during his NFL career.
