AND THE NCAA SELECTION SHOW IS COMING UP THIS SUNDAY WHEN THE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL NEWS THERE’S A NEW MAN IN CHARGE OF THE LANIER FOOTBALL PROGRAM, A SPLASH HIRE FOR LANIER AS FORMER NFL PLAYER TOMMY KELLY WAS INTRODUCED AS THEIR NEW HEAD COACH. THIS AFTERNOON. TOMMY PLAYED IN THE NFL FOR 11 YEARS AND PLAYED FOR JACKIE SHERRILL AT MSU. HE’S ALSO A PROVINE ALUM. HE WAS A D LINE COACH AND D COORDINATOR AT PROVINE. AFTER AN EIGHT YEAR STINT LAST YEAR, HE WAS A VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT AT COLON. NOW HE’S GETTING HIS FIRST HEAD COACHING JOB. >> IT WAS ALWAYS MY DREAM. AS A KID TO COME BACK, YOU KNOW, IF I DIDN’T MAKE IT TO THE LEAGUE, COME BACK AND BE A. HIGH SCHOOL COACH. SO I JUMPED AT THE OPPORTUNITY. WHEN IT CAME OPEN FOR ME. 11 year NFL pro Tommy Kelly to lead the Lanier football team as their new head coach.

Provine alum, former Mississippi State Bulldogs and longtime NFL pro Tommy Kelly is the new head coach of the Lanier Bulldogs. This will be the first head coaching opportunity for Kelly who served as an assistant coach at Provine and Co-Lin the past 10 years after 11 years in the NFL.He replaces Mike Ashford who stepped down due to health reasons. He was the head coach for 6 seasons led Lanier to 5 playoff appearances.
