The Phone Number In Cooper’s Vault-Tec Commercial Is Real – And It Plays Screaming Sounds

According to IGN, the phone number featured at the bottom of the Vault-Tec commercial is real, and viewers who call or text will actually get an answer. Calling the number, (213) 258-2858, will be answered by the sounds of a screaming person, and, as a TikTok from user interdimensionalcable_ shows, the screams are quite loud.

It’s not clear why the recorded message is of a screaming person, other than as a general reference to the apocalypse that destroyed the United States in Fallout. Since the screams are so loud, viewers can also text the same number. Texts are responded to with a message that reads “Thank you for texting Vault-Tec. The next available appointment is 33 weeks from now, please stand by!” and an invitation to receive additional marketing texts. Accepting the marketing invitation spurs another message, which reads “Congratulations! We may or may not be in touch if an appointment becomes available.”
