8,000 promotions by Personnel Ministry
- Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that 8,000 government officers from 3 key secretariat services have been promoted by the Personnel Ministry. The 3 services are the Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Central Secretariat Stenographer’s Service (CSSS), and Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS).
Single-use plastic ban from today
- The central government has banned certain single-use plastic items to protect the environment from its harmful effects. The ban is initiated from 1st July 2022. The state governments have been instructed to enforce the ban in their states.

PM Modi and Russian President Vladmir Putin discuss food and oil
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed several issues on a call with Russian President Vladmir Putin. This was the 4th call between both head of states after the Russia-Ukraine conflict started. The Russian President briefed him on his special military operation in Kyiv. They also discussed food and oil trade and how the sanctions are impacting their costs.
BJP’s National Executive Meeting to start in Telangana today
- Bharatiya Janta Party’s National Executive Meeting to be held for 2 days in Hyderabad in Telangana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders will be attending the 2-day event. PM Modi will also be addressing a public rally on Sunday.
Devendra Fadnavis to skip National Executive Meeting in Telangana
- New Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra will not be attending the National Executive Meeting in Telangana. Since the special 2-day legislative assembly session will be overlapping with the party meet, the Central leadership has been informed of his absence. However, he and his close aids skipped the celebrations at the BJP office in Mumbai as well.

- European Union has granted candidature status to Ukraine and has said that Europe will stand by Ukraine throughout the process. Although, Ukraine’s inclusion has been approved, it will still take years for Ukraine to officially become a part of Europe.
