Oppo released the midrangers Reno8 T and Reno8 T 5G without much fanfare. The devices were simply uploaded on the Vietnamese version of the website, and online retailers followed through with their pricing lists.

The LTE-only smartphone has a Mediatek chipset and a 100 MP camera, while the 5G version has a Qualcomm chip and a 108 MP main shooter.

This smartphone brings a 6.43” AMOLED with a 90 Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. It even has up to 180 Hz touch sampling rate and a Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The selfie camera is 32 MP and sits in the upper left corner behind a punch hole.

Speaking of cameras, there are three on the back. Oppo did not tell us what sensor is used for the 100 MP shooter, which we believe is the first in the industry. The other two shooters are a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro cam. There is a ring light around the main camera that can act as a notification light and is fairly customizable.

On the inside, we have a Helio G99 chipset and one memory option – 8/256 GB. There is a micro SD slot for extra storage, and Oppo offers some RAM Expansion options as well. The Reno8 T comes with a 5,000 mAh battery and SuperVOOC fast charging. The company did not say exactly what the rate is, so we assume it is the lowest possible for this branding – 33W.

Other connectivity options include a 3.5 mm audio jack on the bottom, a USB-C port, Bluetooth 5.3, and all major GNSS. The operating system is ColorOS 13, based on Android 13.

This midranger is a lot more exciting, and not because it is 5G – Vietnam is still piloting its next-gen connectivity and is not expected to be widely deployed in the near future due to infrastructure limits. The phone has a mightier chipset, a bigger and better screen, faster charging and mightier cameras.

The Reno8 T 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 695 and comes with 8 GB RAM. Like its 4G sibling, the memory is also expandable with a toggle in the Color OS settings menu.

The 108 MP main camera has AF and an f/1.7 aperture and has two 2 MP shooters for a company – one is for macro images, the other for portrait mode. The selfie at the front is 32 MP behind a centered punch hole.

The front panel is a 6.7” 10-bit OLED with Full HD+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 360 Hz touch sampling rate. It has 2.5D curved sides, and according to the official website, the panel can reach up to 950 nits brightness.

The battery is 4,800 mAh and also comes with SuperVOOC, but this time Oppo revealed the fast charging – it is 67W with the provided adapter in the retail box.

The Reno8 T 5G being powered by a Qualcomm chip means it has all the necessary Bluetooth audio codecs for wireless earphones because it lacks a 3.5 mm audio jack. Oppo is launching the phone with ColorOS 13 out of the box.
