In Dragon’s Dogma 2, ‘The Stolen Throne’ quest, assigned by Captain Brant, tasks you with attending a Masquerade in Vernworth Hall to confront an impostor. This quest, rich in espionage, starts when you engage Brant at the Vernworth Tavern and inquire about the Masquerade, which he believes is an ideal opportunity to uncover information about the false Sovran. To blend into the ball attended by Vernworth’s elite society, players must look the part.

Although Captain Brant provides an Eventide Mask for the occasion, finding suitable Masquerade attire is up to the player. With no clear directions on acquiring Masquerade clothes, navigating this quest may seem confusing. Entry requires adorning yourself in Vernworth’s exquisite Courtly Clothes, which, despite their high cost and seemingly elusive availability, can be obtained through various means around the area.

How To Reach The Nameless Village In Dragon’s Dogma 2

One of the many quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will ask your character to try reaching the Nameless Village, a hidden settlement deep in the woods.

Buy Courtly Clothes At Vernworth Market

Available At Philbert’s Sundries

At Vernworth’s market square, Philbert’s Sundries offers Courtly Clothes for sale, albeit at extortionate prices. The Courtly Tunic cost 155,000G and the Courtly Breeches cost 150,000G. While purchasing them is an option for those with ample Gold wanting to save time, it’s not recommended due to the high cost.

Fortunately, with minimal effort, these garments can be acquired for free through various and swift means, making the purchase unnecessary for the prepared player.

Steal From The Noble Quarter In Vernworth

Found Inside Allard’s Estate

Given that Vernworth’s affluent residents are distinguished by their fine attire, the Noble Quarter naturally comes to mind as a place to find Courtly Clothes. Fortunately, you can locate this elegant set inside various mansion houses, with both upper and lower pieces found at Allard’s Estate, situated on the Noble Quarter’s west side.

Venture into Allard’s Estate, climb the stairs and proceed through the door directly across. In his office, you’ll find the Courtly Tunic inside a bag on the floor. Continue down the corridor and enter the first door on your right to access his bedroom, where the Courtly Breeches await in a bag beside his bed. Luckily, this task requires no stealth, allowing players to freely collect these items without any cost in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Found Inside Vernworth Castle

More Courtly Clothes are scattered in chests throughout the main castle, home to the royal family. During the day, you can casually explore the castle grounds to uncover these chests. RageGamingVideos demonstrates how to navigate Vernworth Castle in Dragon’s Dogma 2, to get these opulent garments. Start at the Royal Quarter, proceed up the castle’s central path, enter through the double doors, and continue straight through the foyer.

Circle the central pillars at the foyer’s end, then head right to discover a spiral staircase hidden beneath a small arch, leading upstairs. Ascend the staircase to the top floor and navigate to the bottom-left corner to find the Guest Chambers, which remain unlocked. Inside, an ornate chest holds the complete Courtly set, ready for the taking.

Alternatively, the same Courtly set can be found in Sven’s room. Players must break into these quarters during the
‘A Veil of Gossamer Clouds’
quest, another Noble Quarter mission ordered by Brant.

Infiltrate The Masquerade In Vernworth

Steel From The Back Rooms

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, a set of Courtly Clothes is also hidden in a chest at the back of the Masquerade building. It might seem counterintuitive to search for the attire inside when it’s required for entry, but there’s a way to sneak in through the back rooms behind the ballroom. This approach demands extra effort but allows you to simultaneously acquire the necessary outfit, and directly access the Masquerade ball from the inside, enabling you to seamlessly proceed with the quest.

Entry to the building at night requires proper attire. Wait until daytime, so you can freely walk around and

, significantly simplifying this endeavor.

If you choose to infiltrate the Masquerade at night, navigate to the venue’s right side and follow the wall to a ledge overlooking a window to a brothel. Thieves, Mages, or Sorcerers can double jump or levitate across to the roof, and then proceed to the opposite side.

For players not using those Dragon’s Dogma 2 character classes, descend to the lower balconies to find alternate entrances. If allowed passage and the doors are unlocked, you can reach the same area as if you had traversed the roof.

Upon entering the Masquerade through the back entrance, you will discover another secret door, automatically revealed to players. Turn left and proceed down the hallway to the next door. Inside, you’ll find a chest in the room’s corner containing both pieces of the Courtly attire. Now appropriately dressed, you can directly join the Masquerade and advance the main segment of the quest.

After the Masquerade quest, you can sell the Courtly Clothes at Philbert’s Sundries to
get gold fast in
Dragon’s Dogma 2

, provided you no longer have use for them. The merchant offers 1200G for the Tunic and 950G for the Breeches.

Be careful when considering selling these items. The amount of Gold gained is relatively small in the grand scheme of things, and you may need these garments for future Noble Quarter quests later. Other areas in Dragon’s Dogma 2 also have mandatory dress codes, and players will have to purchase them for the full price to get them back.
