Following Assassin’s Creed Mirage, players could be seeing more of Basim Ibn Ishaq. After being introduced as a master assassin in a supporting role in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the series went back to Baghdad in the year 861 and depicted his origin story through a smaller, more stealth-focused title.

In an AMA (ask me anything) session on the official r/assassinscreed subreddit, Assassin’s Creed Mirage‘s creative director Stephane Boudon, and art director Jean-Luc Sala answered questions about the game and where Basim’s journey could go next. When asked about potential DLC content for the game that could continue Basim’s story – something that has become common in previous titles in the franchise – Boudon explained that “Mirage [has been designed] as a standalone experience without any [DLC planned]”

Could There Be Another Mirage-Type Game In The Future?

[Warning: The following section contains spoilers for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Mirage]While there is no post-launch content planned for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Boudon did state that the team has ideas on how it could “extend the story of Basim“, but didn’t elaborate further. Basim has appeared in two different time periods and locations in the series, with Mirage showing his beginnings in the Middle East in 861 AD, and Valhalla showing him in Britain over a decade later, between 872 and 878 AD.

New stories could either fill this gap with more prequel stories that are smaller in scale like Mirage, or see him appearing in more cameo or supporting roles. Toward the end of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Basim was brought into the present day after tricking Layla Hassan into using the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus to rejuvenate his body and offered his help to the modern assassins while plotting to use the Animus for ulterior purposes, so it’s extremely likely that he will show up again in this part of the timeline at least.

While there’s no definitive suggestion of how and when Basim could show up after Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft is currently working on multiple Assassin’s Creed projects, which will be available through its new Infinity hub. These include the next of the larger open-world RPG-esque titles, codenamed Assassin’s Creed Red, which will finally take the series to Feudal era Japan, and a mystical story involving witches in 16th Century Europe called Assassin’s Creed Hexe. There’s also a mobile title, Assassin’s Creed Jade in the works, but this was reportedly delayed due to mobile gaming giant, Tencent, shifting resources to supporting its party title DreamStar.
