To evolve Rufflet into Braviary in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers can use Candy earned from Tera Raid Battles to power-level the Eaglet.

If Trainers are searching for a top-tier Flying-type combatant to add to their roster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they need to look no further than Braviary, the Valiant evolution form of Rufflet. Rufflet is a Normal- and Flying-type Eaglet that can commonly be found in the deserts, mines, and mountains of the Paldea region. Specifically, players can find this Eaglet Pokémon in multiple locations within the South Province, East Province, West Province, North Province, Tagtree Thicket, and Glaseado Mountain. It often travels in flocks with other Rufflets, but sometimes Trainers can encounter one wandering grassy field on its own.

Similar to the evolution from Yungoos into Gumshoos, Rufflet evolves into Braviary in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet once the pocket monster has achieved a specific level requirement. In Rufflet’s case, this prerequisite is Level 54, which can be quite the high jump, depending on where Trainers found the Eaglet. For example, a Rufflet caught in the sandy wastelands of the Asado Desert will likely be around Level 21. At the same time, one that spawned in the fields near Alfornada will be approximately Level 39. Whatever the cause, the leveling journey to 54 will still be quite long.

Wild Encounters with Rufflet and Braviary in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Stat-wise, Rufflet features decent HP and Attack by default but is still no match for Braviary’s superior stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Accordingly, using traditional methods for leveling, such as catching Wild Pokémon or battling NPC Trainers, will be more than a tedious endeavor to reach the level requirement of 54. Of course, the Let’s Go feature always enables Rufflet to auto-battle enemies in the field, but this method grants the players’ party a less-than-ideal EXP reward. Therefore, Trainers need to use other methods if they hope to efficiently achieve the level milestone for Rufflet’s evolution into Braviary in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

According to Game8, feeding Rufflet EXP Candy or Rare Candy earned from Tera Raid Battles is by far the best technique for Braviary’s evolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Tera Raid crystals can be encountered in the overworld, denoted by star-shaped icons on the map. Whether Trainers can clear these Raids with Rufflet will depend on the Eaglet’s level and build, but the EXP Candy received from these Raids will always be worth the effort. If Trainers do manage to make their Rufflet somewhat fit for combat, then they should consider giving it a Lucky Egg, an EXP-boosting Held Item received after defeating five Paldean Gym Leaders in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
