A new officer joined the ranks of the Orlando Police Department, and he got a hero’s welcome.Through Northern and Central Florida Make-A-Wish, 4-year-old Stone was sworn in and even got to solve some crime. On Wednesday, a limo and a massive police presence were spotted outside Orlando Police Headquarters. As the limo arrived, tactical officers rappelled from the building. Years ago, Stone was struggling with kidney failure, and his dad donated one of his kidneys two years ago.Since he’s always dreamed of being a police officer, the Orlando police department and Orlando City soccer set him up.”Our kids go through so much when they battle their critical illness, and so we’re here to celebrate him and help give him the strength and joy in his life,” said Anne Cuba, the president of Make-A-Wish Northern and Central Florida.Inside, OPD Chief Eric Smith welcomed his popular new recruit. “Congratulations, you’re a police officer,” Smith told Stone as the 4-year-old took oath. The SWAT team delivered his pint-sized uniform, and the chief swore in Stone. Within minutes, Officer Stone got his first case. “We just got word of a bold dog-napping,” OPD public information officer Len Kiese reported in the clip, which was an OPD mock-up of a newscast, showcasing a crime for Officer Stone to handle. “His name is Rocky. Please help me find my dog,” the pretend victim said.The “suspect” was taken into custody shortly after, and Rocky was returned. Officer Stone took off in his own, custom OPD squad car. This experience is also a part of Central and Northern Florida Make-A-Wish’s 30th anniversary. For the dedicated officer and “Paw Patrol” fan, the experience is a moment he won’t forget. His family also looked on, happy to see their boy live out his dream of joining Orlando’s Finest.“Every day, he’s trying to catch bad guys. Just last night, Dad went to jail so many times because has the handcuffs now, so he’s just sending everybody to jail except for me. Mom doesn’t go to jail,” said Sophia Hicks, Stone’s mother.After meeting his “Paw Patrol” friends and solving the dog abduction case, Stone will head to Exploria Stadium to help solve a pretend burglary.
