A Mississippi man is among 11 people who were granted a presidential pardon on Wednesday.President Joe Biden granted clemency to 16 people, consisting of 11 pardons and five commutations, according to the release from the U.S. Department of Justice.Bobby Darrell Lowery was convicted of possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute and as a felon in possession of a firearm in the Northern District of Mississippi. He was sentenced in 1999 to 60 months in prison and five years of supervised release.According to a release from the White House, Lowery, 50, was convicted of a non-violent drug offense when he was 25-years-old. “He served his sentence and successfully completed the terms of his probation,” the release said. “Since his release, Mr. Lowery has maintained steady employment and actively volunteers at his church and at various community-based organizations.”The White House said friends and colleagues praise Lowery for his “work ethic, dedication to his family and strong moral character.”
