NOW SHE’S AT MADONNA REHABILITATION AND AS KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S DEVON TAYLOR REPORTS, SHE’S MAKING A REMARKABLE RECOVERY. STORY TELLER TELL ME THE JONAH FOUR MONTHS OF REHAB AND 15 YEAR OLD GRACE PAULEY IS WALKING AFTER SHE CRASHED HER CAR IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR. I’M JUST THE BEST PITCHER EVER. NOW SHE’S ONE STEP CLOSER TO HER RECOVERY FROM A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. SHE IS MEANT THE WORLD TO ME. I’VE THEY’VE CARED FOR ME FOR MONTHS. IT FEELS LIKE, WELL, FOUR UM, THEY JUST HAVE DONE A LOT FOR ME. I’M GETTING BETTER. I’M COUNTING DOWN THE SECONDS. THE TIME HAS COME. SHE CAN RETURN HOME TO HER FAMILY. SO MUCH BETTER BEING AT HOME WHEN PEOPLE CAN COME TO YOU FASTER. SO DO I NEED TO TELL YOU A JOKE TO MAKE YOU SMILE? SHE HAD MULTIPLE COMPLEXITIES THAT WE WERE DEALING WITH VISION, WEIGHT BEARING PRECAUTION MEANS, UM, LIMITED MOVEMENT IN HER ARMS AND HER LEGS AND SO INITIALLY, WE WERE JUST WORKING ON HER AROUSAL. RIGHT. AND THEN WE PROGRESSED, UM, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, EVERYTHING THAT SHE WAS WILLING TO SHOW US, WE CAN CONTINUE TO PUSH HER A LITTLE BIT HARDER EVERY DAY. AND SHE WAS RESILIENT AND, UM, KEPT MAKING HUGE STRIDES INTO WHERE SHE’S AT TODAY HERE. GRACE SAYS THE HARD WORK DOESN’T STOP HERE. IT WAS A LOT OF WORK, AND I’M STILL DOING A LOT OF WORK AT HOME IN HERE. BUT IT’S GOOD TO HAVE ALL THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES HELP, LIKE SUPPORT ME THROUGH ALL OF THIS HARD WORK. Teenager walks again after 4 months of intensive rehab for brain trauma
Grace Pauley, 15, successfully walks again after a four-month rehab journey following brain injury in a car crash. Grace expresses gratitude for the support received during her recovery.

It’s been four months of rehab for Grace Pauley, 15, and now she is walking again after she crashed her car in September of last year. “I’m just the best patient ever,” Pauley told sister station KETV. Now, she said she is one step closer to her recovery from a traumatic brain injury. “It means the world to me,” she said. “They’ve cared for me for months. Four months. They just have done a lot for me, and I’m getting better.” She said she has been counting down the seconds and now, she can finally return home to her family. “It’s so much better to be at home when people can come to you faster,” she said. Her occupational therapist, Lauren Cox, said that when Grace came into the rehab facility, she was not in good shape. “She had multiple complexities that we were dealing with vision, weight bearing precautions, limited movement in her arms, in her legs, and so initially, we were just working on her arousal,” Cox said. However, Cox said that Grace was not giving up and continued to push the pain and work hard to make sure she recovered the way she needed. “Then we continued to push her a little bit harder every day and she was resilient and kept making huge strides. And to where she’s at today,” she said. Grace said the hard work doesn’t stop here and she will continue at home. “It was a lot of work and I’m still doing a lot of work at home and here, but It’s good to have all the surrounding communities help support me through all this hard work,” Pauley said. Grace’s father, Chris Buck, said that he felt overwhelmed watching his daughter go through rehab. “It’s like seeing your daughter do everything again for the first time,” Buck said. “You know, it’s amazing.” Giving those who have watched her journey the true sense of “Amazing Grace.”
