YouTube Music Now Offers Recap Playlists For Individual Seasons
There’s no need to wait until the end of the year to see and share your most-played playlist with others. YouTube Music now offers seasonal recaps.
YouTube Music users no longer have to wait until the end of the year to see a recap and access a dedicated playlist of their most-played songs, thanks to the service’s new seasonal recaps. Spotify is largely credited with being the first to start this recap trend with its annual Spotify Wrapped playlists. With the latest change, however, YouTube Music is upping the auto-generated playlist ante.
When the latest Spotify Wrapped drops each year, it tends to go viral on social media with users taking the opportunity to share their individual results with their friends and followers. The trend has proven so popular that YouTube Music got in on the action last year with its own 2021 Recap. It was expected that YouTube Music, like Spotify, would continue the trend this year, and every year going forward.
However, it looks like YouTube Music has decided waiting until the end of the year is simply too long as it has now launched a Spring Recap 2022. Similar to the general 2021 Recap, YouTube Music users can see and access stats on their listening habits during the Spring season, including their most-played songs, albums and playlists. Accessing the Spring Recap 2022 is no different to accessing the 2021 Recap. Desktop users will find theirs through the YouTube Music website, while app users will find their Spring Recap 2022 by clicking on their profile icon in the top-right corner of the app.
A Recap For All The Seasons
If bi-annual recaps are not enough, YouTube Music has you covered. Along with introducing the Spring Recap 2022, YouTube also confirmed that this is the start of a new rolling feature. Essentially, as each season comes to an end, a new dedicated recap will become available, making it possible for users to always find out what they were mostly listening to during the previous season. These seasonal recaps also won’t affect the annual Recap YouTube Music offers, which will still be released at the end of the year.
Of course, a big part of this recap trend is the actual viral nature of sharing. Due to this, YouTube has also made it possible for users to share their seasonal recap with others on social media and elsewhere. Once again, sharing a seasonal recap is no different than sharing a yearly one. To share through the website, click on the three-dot menu on the recap card and then click on Share. If sharing through the app, access the current YouTube Music season recap, tap the arrow at the bottom of the stats card, and then select the social media service or messaging app to share through.
