Hogwarts Legacy 2 hasn’t been officially announced yet, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation and opinion about what should be included in the game and where and when it should be set. Considering the scope of the Harry Potter universe, there’s a lot of content that could be used for the next Hogwarts Legacy. Amidst all the available content, certain aspects are particularly perfect to include in a new Hogwarts Legacy title.
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the past, long before the events of the Harry Potter books and movies take place. This lets the plot stay independent of the books’ events, which gives the developers more freedom in creating the story and characters in the game’s world. However, the past isn’t the only time period that allows for that level of independence in the Harry Potter universe; there’s another time period that would be equally, if not more, interesting.

This sequel could show more details about what happened to the books’ characters. Perhaps some of them became Hogwarts professors who returned to teach the next main character. While both the past and future are brimming with the potential to expand on the Harry Potter universe, the future brings more opportunities to show the fate of beloved characters.
Right now, there’s no certainty about Hogwarts Legacy’s future beyond a summer update. However, the success of the first game leaves it a possibility that the developers will decide to continue exploring the world of magic and wizards with a new title that could follow a similar path as the first one or take a new direction entirely. As the first game shows, there’s always a wizard who appears and threatens the well-being of others, and it’s a matter of time until a new villain replaces Voldemort after his demise. So, heading to the future might be the best choice for the next Hogwarts Legacy.
