The 1.6 Update for Stardew Valley may still be fresh on the community’s minds but that hasn’t stopped developer ConcernedApe from pushing out yet another patch to fix some known issues and add in some small extra features. Despite being nearly a decade old, the beloved farming RPG is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made in no small part due to the impressive amount of post-launch content it’s received over the years. The latest hotfix isn’t intended as a full expansion but rather shepherds in some much-needed tweaks and balances.

Posted to X (formerly Twitter), ConcernedApe shared an image of the patch notes for the 1.6.3 hotfix and while most of the items are relatively minor, some will surely please the entire community.

Perhaps the most popular adjustment is that players can now enter Clint’s store and use him to crack open geodes while he’s in the process of upgrading their tools. Moss collectors will also be happy to see that the resource now adds experience to the Forager skill even if the plants’ spawn rate has decreased, meaning they’ll grow slower during sunny days and after being harvested.

The rest of the 1.6.3 Patch largely fixes various bugs that may have been caused by the 1.6 Update, including one especially annoying glitch that resulted in players catching trash too frequently. A new portrait for Krobus has been added and several larger sprites should no longer suffer from a strange visual that’s been seen affecting the Bear, the Island Frog, and Clint while he’s hammering. Perhaps best of all is the ability to purchase pets from Marnie if, for whatever reason, players manage to reach Year 2 without a fluffy companion.

The latest Stardew Valley hotfix has been incredibly well-received by the community with many praising the amount of effort ConcernedApe continues to put into the game. Whether the 1.6.3 update is the last of any planned maintenance is unknown but the creator has been known to quietly push out extra content, allowing players to discover any and all secrets themselves. The 1.6 Update introduced a plethora of fun Easter eggs, including a powerful sword that’s literally teleported into the game from fellow indie titan Terraria.

What Lies Ahead For Stardew Valley?

Stardew Valley fans have long believed ConcernedApe to be finished with his farming RPG considering it originally launched back in 2016 but the developer continues to surprise. There’s undoubtedly plenty more that can be added to the game and the creator has stated that he’ll only stop producing updates once he’s satisfied with the amount of content on offer. In the meantime, he’s also working on a new game, Haunted Chocolatier, which currently doesn’t have a release date.
