A Jackson man said he’s lucky to be alive after he was shot over the weekend.The man didn’t want to be shown on camera or identified beyond Aaron for this story because he fears retaliation. Aaron said one bullet made it out through his arm, but the other one is still in his thigh. He said doctors couldn’t find it because of the swelling.”It’s painful. I’ve got to get used to walking again,” Aaron said. He said he was walking down a frontage road near Covington Park Apartments Sunday morning when a red Challenger pulled out of a driveway. Aaron said he and the driver began arguing.”I was just thinking to myself, ‘This is just a nice car,’ and he just opened up his door like, ‘What are you looking at?'” Aaron said.Shortly after that, the man showed his gun, according to Aaron.”He said, ‘You need to watch what you’re doing before you get blasted.’ He showed me his gun, and he had an AR-15,” Aaron said.Aaron said he shrugged it off and continues walking to a store. He later saw the man in the Challenger following him.”I got shot right in front of Covington Park and the Harley Davidson place,” Aaron said.Aaron said he feels lucky to be alive.”I just feel like I got a second chance,” he said.Aaron wanted to remind people that it shouldn’t take guns to solve a situation.”Go to the boxing. Go to the gym, or something. Handle it like that. You don’t have to pick up a gun,” he said. Aaron said he doesn’t know the man who shot him. Jackson police said they responded to the scene Sunday and officers are investigating.
